Assembly Bill 43, sponsored by Equality California and authored by Assemblymember Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, is headed to the governor’s desk. He’ll either sign it or veto it. We urgently need your help to push the governor in the right direction.

Dear Gov. Schwarzenegger,
By signing this petition, I urge you to sign AB 43, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, to give same-sex couples the option to marry. I believe that all loving and committed couples should have the same dignity, respect, protections and benefits that come only with marriage.

This bill will protect the right of religious leaders to sanction marriages of their choice while ensuring that the State of California allows all committed couples to receive a civil marriage license.
