AB 1586- Insurance Gender Non-Discrimination Act

The Insurance Gender Non-Discrimination Act clarifies that state law prohibits insurance companies and health care service plans from discriminating on the basis of gender in the creation or maintenance of service contracts or the provision of benefits or coverage.

Status: Passed by the Legislature.  Signed by Governor Schwarzenegger.  Ab 1586 takes effect January 1, 2006

  • The anti-LGBT right-wing is trying to kill EQCA's bill to repeal the California law that instructs health officials to conduct research into the "causes and cures of homosexuality." Why? Because they know that when people learn that sexual orientation is not a choice and cannot be changed they are much more likely to support full equality.
