SB 105 – Domestic Partners Joint Income Tax Filing Implementation Bill

Senate Bill 105, authored by Senator Carole Migden (D-San Francisco), simplifies the process for registered domestic partners to file state income taxes, beginning with tax year 2007, by making technical, clarifying amendments necessary to implement SB 1827 (Migden), the State Income Tax Equity Act of 2006, which allowed registered domestic partners to use the same state tax filing status as married persons.

STATUS: Passed the Senate by a 37-2 vote. Passed Assembly by 42-29 initial vote. Signed by Governor Schwarzenegger; became law on January 1, 2008.
