Equality California Condemns NOM's Attacks against Pro-Equality Candidates

San Francisco—The Washington, D.C.-based National Organization for Marriage (NOM), which fights legalizing marriage for same-sex couples across the nation, has launched an ad campaign against U.S. Senate candidate Tom Campbell and Democratic U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer because they opposed Proposition 8, which banned marriage for same-sex couples. In response, Equality California Executive Director Geoff Kors issued the following response.

"NOM is spending huge sums of money to influence our elections here in California in an attempt to further their agenda to systematically strip away invaluable freedoms and protections from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We will not let them buy our elections or bully candidates who stand up for equality. We will fight their attacks by supporting the many candidates who stand with our community and who support fairness and equality for all of California's residents."
