Equality California Announces Sue Dunlap as State Farm Good Neighbor Award Honoree for the Los Angeles Equality Awards

(Los Angeles) Equality California today announced the selection of Sue Dunlap as the State Farm Good Neighbor Award honoree for the Los Angeles Equality Awards on October 5. Dunlap is the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA), and a longtime advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. Dunlap served on the Equality for All task force and the No on 8 board of directors. She has also spearheaded research and training around providing health services to transgender people at PPLA health centers.

“Sue Dunlap has a long and noteworthy history of advocacy and activism, and has worked to make Planned Parenthood one of the staunchest allies in our work for LGBT equality,” said John O’Connor, EQCA executive director. “We’re proud to honor her with the State Farm Good Neighbor Award.”

“It’s an honor to be recognized by Equality California with the Good Neighbor award. EQCA and Planned Parenthood share a common vision for California: one in which all women, men, families, and communities reap the challenges and opportunities of true equality,” said Dunlap.

Each year, Equality California recognizes individuals and organizations that have made an impact on the movement to secure full and lasting equality for LGBT people at its annual Equality Awards—a series of formal galas and cocktail events held in San Francisco, San Diego, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Sacramento. Past honorees have included Facebook, Adam Lambert, Dolores Huerta, Molly Ringwald, Debra Messing, Arianna Huffington, Attorney General Kamala Harris, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and California Governor Jerry Brown. The Los Angeles Equality Awards will take place on Saturday, October 5, at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at LA Live.

The 2013 Equality Awards are presented by AT&T and sponsored by State Farm Insurance and Southwest Airlines.
