Equality California Announces State Farm Good Neighbor Award Honoree for Palm Springs Equality Awards

(Palm Springs) Equality California has selected the Signoret family as State Farm Good Neighbor Award honorees for the 2013 Palm Springs Equality Awards on Saturday, October 12. Tony and Silvia, longtime Palm Springs residents, run the non-profit For the Children, which provides adoption support services, especially in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The Signorets currently have six adopted children whose ages span from 13 to 20 months. Of the approximately 60 families For the Children supports, about 50 percent are gay or lesbian.

“From their outspoken advocacy of marriage for all loving couples and their participation in the Palm Springs Gay Pride Parade, to their exceptional efforts in supporting adoptions for LGBT couples, we are proud to honor the Signoret family as the State Farm Good Neighbor Award recipients at the Palm Springs Equality Awards on October 12,” said John O’Connor, EQCA executive director.

The State Farm Good Neighbor Award is given to a member or members of the community whose grassroots work has advanced the cause of equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Californians. Last year’s State Farm Good Neighbor Award winner for Palm Springs was transgender activist extraordinaire Mattie Leyden, who won for her fantastic work with the Palm Springs Police Department.

The Palm Springs Equality Awards will take place on Saturday, October 12, at the Riviera Resort and Spa.

The 2013 Equality Awards are presented by AT&T and sponsored by State Farm Insurance and Southwest Airlines. For more information about the Equality Awards, visit www.eqcaawards.org/palm-springs.
