Senate Urging Repeal of Prop 8

This resolution would put the Senate on record as supporting the repeal of Proposition 8 and declaring that the initiative was an improper revision to the California Constitution.


Status: Introduced December 1, 2008.  Passed by Senate Judiciary Committe February 24, 2009 in a 3 to 2 vote. Passed by Senate with a vote of 18 to 14 on March 2, 2009.

  • The anti-LGBT right-wing is trying to kill EQCA's bill to repeal the California law that instructs health officials to conduct research into the "causes and cures of homosexuality." Why? Because they know that when people learn that sexual orientation is not a choice and cannot be changed they are much more likely to support full equality.
