Blood Donor Nondiscrimination

Bill Number: AJR 13

This resolution would urge repeal of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s outdated and discriminatory rule prohibiting healthy gay and bisexual men from donating blood.

Status: Introduced on April 2, 2009, referred to the Assembly Judiciary Committee. Approved by the full Assembly on September 8, 2009 with a 41-28 vote. Will be heard in the Senate when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
