Moving Towards Marriage Equality

The power of faith is central to the call for equality for all. For many years, thousands of leaders across numerous faith traditions have championed the full and equal inclusion of LGBT people, same sex couples, and their families as welcomed members of our communities, our congregations, and our society throughout this country. They understand that equality is not just a matter of civil and human rights, but is also a spiritual value. 

Now is the time. Civic and faith leadership calls for standing against movements to change our democracy into a theocracy, and maintaining the separation between church and state as intended by our state and nation’s Constitutional founders.

As a part of our newly launched Win Back Marriage: Make It Real! campaign, Equality California along with its faith coalition building partners, including GettoKnowUsFirst.org, California Faith for Equality and Bay Area Coalition for Welcoming Congregations is working to support clergy and congregants from all faith traditions around the State of California to talk to their congregations about why the freedom to marry matters.
