Team Win Los Angeles

We're going to win marriage back by talking to voters in communities that voted yes on Prop 8.

Whether it's calling volunteers, going door-to-door, or helping with data entry, you have a role to play to win marriage back.

If you can’t make any of the shifts, sign up anyways so that we can contact you about future opportunities. Or become an Equality Advocate and download our toolkit to have conversations with people you know.

Team Win Los Angeles Field Managers

Mike Ai

Raised in North Orange County in the City of Cypress, Mike began his career in community organizing during the onset of Prop 8. Co-founder of the Equal Roots Coalition, a Los Angeles based coalition of LGBT grassroots organizations, Mike has worked closely with the many prominent leaders and organizations in the LGBT movement in Los Angeles. A first generation gay Asian-American male, a graduate and facilitator of Camp Courage and a hardcore love warrior, Mike is dedicated towards winning marriage equality back and further advancing LGBT rights. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006.

Why he joined Team Win:

“I joined Team Win to start the real groundwork to change hearts and minds of people that voted in favor of Proposition 8. We've rallied and protested, now its time to start talking to voters one on one and win marriage equality back."

Joseph Arroyo

Joseph is a native Angeleno who worked hard to fight Prop 8, quickly working his way up from a volunteer to a leadership position. Joseph recently lent his organizing talents to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and recruited 3,300 volunteers for the 2009 Homeless Count. Joseph is also a Board Member of the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer at Vote for Equality, a project of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

Why he joined Team Win:

"I am excited to work with my fellow Angelenos to build the political power of the LGBT community in a meaningful way. I believe organized people become organized power, and it is my goal to make that a reality for Los Angeles."

Milton Davis

Milton was born and raised in Los Angeles, and has been involved in local activism and politics from a young age. He pursued this passion by studying Critical Theory and Social Justice at Occidental College, here in his hometown. With the passage of Prop 8 and LGBT rights coming to the forefront, he became excited about participating in advocacy in the city he knows so well. Milton is a major sports fan who spends his free time watching and reading about the Dodgers and Lakers.

Why he joined Team Win:

"As a native of Los Angeles, I was shocked to discover to how little people knew about LGBT issues and the devastating impact Prop 8 could have on our citizens. I am very excited for the chance to educate and organize Angelenos so they can participate and represent our city as it was meant to be — a conscious and progressive example to be followed across the state."

Moof Mayeda
Deputy Field Director (on loan from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force)

Moof is proud to have lived and organized in Los Angeles for nearly 10 years (just ask to see her tattoo!). As an organizer with the Task Force, Moof has campaigned in 10 different states, including working on Oregon’s campaign to defeat that state’s marriage ban in 2004. Partnering with Planned Parenthood and others to defeat consecutive statewide anti-choice initiatives in California in 2005 and 2006, she developed and managed the Latina field program, which focused on bilingual canvasses to defeat Prop 85 in five LA neighborhoods. Most recently, she served as the LA Field Director for the No on 8 campaign both for Decline to Sign and after the measure qualified for the ballot, when she led a team of five field managers and more than 30 organizers in five offices to identify over 51,000 NO voters and raise more than $460,000.

Why she joined Team Win:

“I love the national momentum for marriage equality, but after helping for a short time to pass Maine’s marriage bill and cherishing that victory, I knew I could never fully celebrate until we won in California. I joined Team Win because I want to use what I have learned from campaigns in this state and nationwide to build a smart, skilled field team that will deliver the slice of votes that will get us over the top to win marriage back in my home state.”
