2020 Census Inclusion Resolution

Bill Number: SJR 28

This resolution would urge the federal government to include questions regarding sexual orientation and gender identity in the 2020 Census questionnaire. EQCA is also sponsoring AB 1878, a bill which would compel California to collect data about sexual orientation and gender identity on state forms.

 Introduced by Senator Kehoe (D-San Diego) on March 26, 2010. Passed by committee on June 15, 2010, and by the full Senate on June 17, 2010, in a 22-9 vote. Passed by the Assembly Judiciary Committee August 10, 2010, in a 6-2 vote, and by the full Assembly on August 23, 2010. Adopted by the Legislature.
