As part of Equality California Institute’s priority to mentor young inspiring leaders for positions in all levels of government and business throughout the state, EQCAI is proud to announce the 2018 Comcast Fellowship.
The Comcast Fellowship program will see EQCAI partner with the Comcast Foundation to offer a four-week paid fellowship in Sacramento for college students with a passion for LGBTQ advocacy. Six students will be selected from across California and placed in various legislative offices in the Capitol to experience the policy-making process first-hand.
Fellows will gain valuable experience working with legislators and their staff on state legislative and budget policies, interact with leading policymakers, and develop key leadership skills. In addition to working in Capitol, fellows will also meet prominent lobbyists, community members, and LGBTQ leaders from a range of backgrounds to learn about how advocacy and public service can be transformed into meaningful policy changes for the broader community.
A total of six college students will be selected for the four-week paid fellowship in Sacramento, which will run Monday, June 11 to Friday, July 6. Students will be provided with a $3000 stipend to cover housing and extraneous expenses in Sacramento and will be required to remain in Sacramento for the duration of the fellowship. We will be accepting applicants from throughout California.
We are currently accepting applications for the summer of 2018. The application is available here.
Deadline to apply: Friday, April 6, 2018.
