Equality California Institute has created an in-person and virtual model for LGBTQ+ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Training that is designed to empower direct service providers to provide respectful and culturally sensitive care to their LGBTQ+ population. Our curriculum includes basic LGBTQ+ terminology, data on issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community, the significance of an intersectional approach and how to create a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ people, among other relevant topics. To date, we have delivered training to nearly 3,000 service providers.
California has the strongest LGBTQ+ civil rights protections in the country, but lack of acceptance and inequitable access to education, employment, housing and healthcare continue to fuel persistent disparities in LGBTQ+ health and well-being — especially for transgender and gender-nonconforming people, LGBTQ+ people of color, LGBTQ+ immigrants and LGBTQ+ people with disabilities.
Equality California Institute is addressing these issues through a multifaceted approach that educates and mobilizes both our community and the public, develops strong leaders and allies across sectors and facilitates understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people. Our team is excited to connect with you and learn more about how we can support your efforts to improve the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ people and the diverse communities to which we belong.
