LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization, announced endorsements of 38 incumbent members of Congress for reelection on Wednesday. The organization previously announced early endorsements of U.S. Representatives Josh Harder (CA-10), TJ Cox (CA-21), Gil Cisneros (CA-39), Katie Porter (CA-45), Harley Rouda (CA-48) and Mike Levin (CA-49), as well as candidates Chris Buber (CA-8), Christy Smith (CA-25), Ammar Campa-Najjar (CA-50), Georgette Gómez (CA-53) and Sara Jacobs (CA-53) in 2019.
Equality California released the following statement from Executive Director Rick Zbur:
“Under the Trump-Pence Administration, we have seen an all-out affront on LGBTQ civil rights and our Democracy as a whole. Luckily, our pro-equality champions in Congress have gone toe-to-toe with anti-LGBTQ extremists, held President Trump accountable and stood up for our California values. At the same time, they’ve passed groundbreaking pro-equality legislation to reduce the cost of healthcare, protect our elections, reform our gun safety laws and protect LGBTQ Americans from discrimination. We need fighters in Washington — now more than ever — and we know that voters will agree.”
