LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, announced endorsements of ten openly LGBTQ+ champions for local offices on Tuesday. Equality California announced the following endorsements:

Cathedral City Council, District 1: Alan Carvalho
BART Board of Directors, District 9: Bevan Dufty
Valley County Water District: Ralph Galvan
Escondido City Council, District 3: Don Greene
Mission Viejo City Council, At Large: Pauline Hale
Pismo Beach City Council, At Large: Erik Howell
Roseville City Council, District 3: Neil Pople
Berkeley City Council, District 2: Terry Taplin
Downey City Council, District 5: Mario Trujillo
William S Hart Union High School District Board of Trustees, Area 4: James Webb

Names shown in bold indicate an openly LGBTQ+ candidate.

Equality California released the following statement from Managing Director Tony Hoang:

“I’m continuously inspired by the increase in openly LGBTQ+ candidates running for office to represent our community all over the Golden State. We know that when LGBTQ+ people are at the table, LGBTQ+ people and ALL people benefit. That is why today we are proud to endorse these ten openly LGBTQ+ champions in their respective races this year. They represent some of the best LGBTQ+ leaders in our state and we are excited to see the great work they will do.”
