LOS ANGELES and LAS VEGAS — Equality California Executive Director Rick Chavez Zbur and Silver State Equality State Director André C. Wade joined leaders of prominent LGBTQ+ and civil rights organizations on Friday in condemning racism, White supremacy and anti-Black violence following the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and Nina Pop — as well as the racist attack against Christian Cooper, a Black gay man who was bird-watching in Central Park.
“We understand what it means to rise up and push back against a culture that tells us we are less than, that our lives don’t matter,” said the organizations in a joint statement. “Today, we join together again to say #BlackLivesMatter and commit ourselves to the action those words require.”
The entire joint statement and a complete list of signatories are available here.
