Sacramento – Today, Assembly Democrats on Thursday voted unanimously to make Assemblymember Anthony Rendon their next speaker. Equality California Executive Director Rick Zbur issued the following statement in response:

“Equality California congratulates Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, the next Speaker of the California Assembly. We look forward to working with Asm. Rendon to achieve full equality and acceptance for the LGBT community. Having earned a 100% pro-equality voting record from EQCA throughout his career, we are delighted that the California Assembly has once again chosen a champion for equality as its next leader. We thank and applaud Speaker Toni Atkins for her inspiring leadership in advancing full equality and acceptance for the LGBT community and all the communities that LGBT people are a part of.”
