SACRAMENTO, Calif. —  Today, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) named Jodi Hicks as President and CEO of the advocacy and health care organization. Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization released the following statement from Executive Director Rick Zbur praising the decision and congratulating Hicks:

“The battle for reproductive freedom needs a strong leader who has the grit and know-how to get things done here in the Golden State — and that’s exactly what Planned Parenthood will get in my friend Jodi Hicks. Jodi is an extremely skilled advocate, and she has been the driving force behind many critical public policy victories for California women and the LGBTQ community over the last decade. We applaud Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California for this decision and look forward to continuing to work side by side for reproductive freedom and full equality for the LGBTQ community, for women and for all Californians.”

Equality California is proud to have partnered with PPAC numerous times over the last 20 years, winning critical victories for women, LGBTQ people and all Californians. Most recently, the two organizations successfully sponsored the California Healthy Youth Act, which ensures all California public school students receive science-based and LGBTQ-inclusive sex education.
