LOS ANGELES — Equality California Executive Director Tony Hoang released the following statement after all of the organization’s endorsed candidates achieved victories in April special elections: Charlene Wang was elected to the Oakland City Council (District 2); Paloma Aguirre advanced to a runoff for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors; and Anthony Tordillos advanced to a runoff for the San Jose City Council.
“We are thrilled to see all of our endorsed candidates succeed — whether by winning outright or advancing to their respective runoffs. Some of the most important and consequential policymaking for Californians happens at the local level, and it’s critical to have LGBTQ+ representation in these conversations. We congratulate Councilmember-elect Charlene Wang and look forward to continuing to support Paloma Aguirre and Anthony Tordillos as they move forward in their races.”
